If we’re predicting trends for the coming year, Tiki bars will be on top of that list and Miss Thing’s is leading the charge. The tropical-inspired bar has been generating praise for its pan-Asian and Polynesian-leaning menu (with good reason), but it’s the punchy cocktails with bright, bold flavours that we fell for.

Named after a nickname Sangha jokingly gives his four-year-old daughter, Miss Thing’s is a big change from Wrongbar in terms of looks and offerings. Solid Design & Build has avoided tiki bar clichés, instead making the space feel sophisticated and cool with pink, white and gold florals painted on dark turquoise walls.

A golden pineapple, an international symbol of hospitality, is part of the resto-bar’s logo, and the aim here is to provide patrons with a refined kind of tropical island escape, to allow them to be self-indulgent and have a fun night on the town.

I had the Toucan Sam Shake and the Steak so yum. I’ll definitely be back. The place is well decorated but a bit noisy.

Miss Thing’s serves dishes that could best be described as Caribbean meets East Asian. The restaurant bills itself as tropical pan-Asian. Overall the food was good but not great. The shrimp po bao was one of the better menu items I tried, as was the spicy squid.
